Our Story

The story of how SoFit Training got its' start, how it evolved, and whats in store for the future.

SoFit Training is a fitness company that was created from the ground up by two USC students, Matt Cunningham and Michael Shuff. As personal trainers and USC gym employees, they realized that typical fitness programs were often limiting and quickly became monotonous routines. In addition, only a handful of group exercise classes were offered on campus and the personal training program was less than impressive.

What started as a senior project for Matt’s entrepreneurship concentration quickly evolved into a small business. In an effort to fill the need of students at USC who were looking for a better way to workout and get fit, SoFit Training was born.

Cunningham and Shuff started offering weekend boot camps on campus to college and sorority girls. In the months following, SoFit boot camps expanded to other college campuses around Southern California including, Loyola Marymount, Cal State Long Beach, and Chapman University. As SoFit grew, so did the services it offered and the customers it served.

SoFit Training now provides not only boot camps but personal training, diet consultation, and private group workouts to the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas. When asked about the future of SoFit, Matt and Michael said “eventually we hope to open a physical training center fully equipped with a military style obstacle course, cardio and strength equipment, and exercise studio for group classes. It would be a great place to train athletic teams and would give organizations a way to take team-building to a whole new level.”

The two believe that although SoFit is still in its’ infancy that 2010 promises to be a year full of growth and new opportunity and are excited for the future.
